Varadero Holidays of Cuban Colour

The Coralia Club Playa De Oro is one of the more colorful Varadero hotels, both inside and out. The hotel’s main buildings are styled in a cheerful red and yellow livery, making them vivid against the blue Cuban sky; its vibrant bedrooms inside are decorated to match.

The Coralia is a modern hotel, right on the beach, not far from the dolphinarium. Its complex has three separate restaurants and four bars, and a large pool edged with thatched gazebos for a little shade.

This is a good Varadero hotel from which to access the Varadero Golf Club, the new 18 hole Golf Course in Cuba. Although there aren’t many courses in Cuba, the climate and tropical flora make the island a beautiful place to play.

Cuban Luxury Varadero hotels

If it’s golf you’re after on your Varadero holiday, the Melia Las Americas can provide it on an unlimited basis. With its ‘Golf Suites’ your room will be no more than a two minute walk from the first tee, with the golf course on one side of the hotel and the perfect turquoise sea on the other.

This is a high-class, all-inclusive luxury Varadero hotel with a variety of water sports activities and nightly entertainment. The romantic, candle-lit La Arcada restaurant, together with the hotel’s adults-only policy, and 24-hour room service make this a good hotel for honeymooners and weddings.

Varadero Hotels for Cuban Weddings

Just imagine the wedding photos Cuba can produce with its perfect weather, clear sky and tropical backdrop, not to mention the healthy tan the happy couple will have from their Varadero holidays. Like the Las Americas, the Melia Varadero luxury hotel is a superior venue for weddings.

Varadero Hotels in Cuba for Kids

But there are hotels in Varadero suitable for children as well, because Cuba is a great venue for family holidays The Sirenis La Salina, for example, has a kids’ mini-club and activities area as well a children’s pool. A Varadero holiday here can be an active one, with two pools, a sports club, fitness center and sports courts.

After spending all that energy, you get to choose from a wide variety of themed restaurants: buffet, gourmet and a la carte menus with Steak House, Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines.

Inclusive Cuban Varadero Holidays

The variety on Varadero holiday is not restricted to the food, though. Many hotels try to make available everything a holidaymaker could wish for. For example, The Superclubs Breezes Bella Costa appears to have it all. It has specially supervised programs for children, access to scuba diving sites, salsa dancing, fishing, horse-riding, and even swimming with dolphins.

Like many of the Varadero hotels the Breezes Bella Costa is an all-inclusive hotel. The all-inclusive format keeps the drinks flowing and – with everything they could want on hand – keeps the Varadero holidaymakers smiling.

Emma Lelliott is the general manager of Captivating Cuba, an independent specialist in Varadero hotels and Varadero holidays. With offices in Havana and the UK, Captivating Cuba can help you tailor-make the perfect Cuban holiday experience.

Looking for a luxury resort vacation that is adult only and all inclusive and in Cuba, then try the Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos.

By Sandy Gibson

Looking for a luxury resort vacation that is adult only and all inclusive and in Cuba, then try the Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos.

A Luxury Resort Vacation in an unspoiled part of Cuba isn’t everyone’s dream, but when you begin to investigate the Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos then you might well change your mind. It is to be found on the unspoiled Cayo Ensenachos on the north coast of Cuba, and is rapidly developing a reputation as the top luxury hotel in Cuba.

You could find this the perfect romantic honeymoon destination, and a number of people have been very happy with the Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos as a romantic wedding destination. It is certainly a place for a special occasion, and there is no doubt it could give you an elegant holiday if you are looking for somewhere to have a quiet relaxing time.

The Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos has over 500 rooms, and slightly less than 50 suites split into three distinct sections. The Royal Hideaway, the Royal Spa, and the Royal Villas, and every room has either an ocean, garden or pool view. It has a very comprehensive all inclusive plan, and the rooms are large modern and luxurious with marble floors and a private balcony or terrace.

Guests at the Hideaway and Spa complexes share all the common facilities such as pools, restaurants, shops and spas, whilst the Royal Suites guests have their own grounds and their own separate facilities. The suites by the way are enormous, with kitchens, living rooms, outdoor Jacuzzis, and private butlers, making it just right as a romantic honeymoon destination.

Although the Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos can only be described as huge, there is no doubt it has all the facilities of a top class luxury resort. It could be said it is a double beachfront resort because it dominates two of the best beaches on Cayo Ensenachos. It is a true resort and spa, with really good and very attractive spa facilities.

The beach in particular arouses comments from the guests. It has powder white sand, no rocks, no seaweed bordering clean clear turquoise blue sea, it is absolutely idyllic. The grounds are immaculately maintained as is the whole hotel.

The Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos has been a romantic wedding destination for a number of people. The resort really goes to town, with the real opportunity to be married on a picture perfect beach, decorated for the special occasion, and they have staff solely to ensure you will have the perfect day. You then have the real opportunity to continue your celebrations with your friends and family by staying on because the Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos makes for a jolly good romantic honeymoon destination as well, and why not enjoy it with people you love.

There have been issues over food availability and service in the low season summer months. During high season the service and food are everything you can expect from a luxury resort vacation in Cuba. Food in Cuba possibly isn’t one of outstanding features of what is a most attractive place. As a guest recently commented that if your expectations aren’t too high you won’t be disappointed. Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos is however probably the best resort and spa in Cuba, and it is a beautiful place to go.

By Suzanne Morrison

Taking time out from the everyday stresses and strains of life to visit an exotic place is something that everyone looks forward to. Cuba, with its notoriety brought upon by its government and the clamp down of the American government on its export and tourism, is a country known more for its cigar and its leader, rather than as a vacation destination. Despite this, every year more and more tourists from Canada and Europe are flocking to Cuba, enthralled by its natural beauty and its passionate and welcoming people. Tourism in Cuba is currently at an all time high.

Cuba is the largest of the Caribbean islands and is inhabited by people with a mixed race of Caribbean Indian, African and Spanish heritage. It has a contrasting landscape ranging from beautiful and mesmerizing beaches to sprawling and craggy mountain ranges. Limestone Mountains loom over the fields of tobacco, utilised for their famed cigars, providing a stunning scenic view. The natural beauty of Cuba and its history has shaped the country to what it is today. This is one Caribbean island that has been left unspoiled by technology and modern day living.

Like many of the Caribbean islands, Cuba’s main source of tourism is the beach industry. The country is blessed with hundreds of miles of sprawling sandy beaches, with fine white sand and clear blue water. Tourists visiting Cuba have a multitude of choices for the location of their beach vacation. The major resorts of Varadero and Cayo Largo are the most renowned and here you’ll find many 5 star all inclusive resorts. Despite this, there are also plenty of smaller, quieter beach resorts where you can truly get away from it all.

Aside from stunning beaches, Cuba also offers plenty of rustic towns and cities full of rich culture and heritage. A vacation to Cuba isn’t complete without visiting at least one of the Cuban towns or cities and meeting the local Cuban people.

In the north-west of the country you’ll find the capital city, Havana – the hub of everything that is Cuban. When you stroll around the city you’ll feel the essence of the Cuban past – a rich legacy emanating from the Spanish colonial architecture that beholds the city. Parts of the city resemble the set of an old movie, reminiscent of a bygone era, with old American cars bustling by. A lot of work has been done in the past decade to restore old Havana, a UNESCO world heritage site, but much of the city has been left untouched and hundreds of crumbling buildings collapse each month.

Havana also has its fair share of museums, including the Museum of the Revolution, the Havana Club Museum of Rum, the Cigar Museum, the Ernest Hemingway Museum and the National Museum of Fine Arts.

Santiago de Cuba is the second largest city in Cuba and is located on the eastern end of the island. It has a beautiful setting at the foot of the Sierra Maestra Mountains and overlooks a magnificent bay. Unlike the other towns and cities in Cuba, Santiago de Cuba has a very Caribbean feel to it. This is as a result of the influence of the Haitian planters who settled here in the 19th century.

Trinidad, located in the heart of Cuba is one of the original towns and was founded in 1514. The city is filled with cobbled streets and old buildings with tiled roofs and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. It’s a very pleasant city to spend a day or two, with many museums, churches and Plazas.

An ideal way to spend your vacation is to take a few days to do some sightseeing in Havana or one of Cuba’s other cities and then follow that up with a relaxing week’s stay in one of the luxurious all inclusive resorts by the beach.

If you are on holiday in Cuba, a visit to at least one of the island’s beautiful beaches is essential before you leave. Cuba has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean – the fine sand and clear warm waters make this a superb destination for scuba diving, deep sea fishing, or just for swimming and sun bathing.

Those who want to stay in one of Cuba’s luxury hotels as part of a beach holiday are in for a particular treat – some of the finest hotels and resorts on the island are located along the coast. Here are five of the best beach hotels in Cuba; each combining the pristine seclusion of a Caribbean beach and the top quality services and facilities of a five star hotel. Playa Pesquero, Guardalavaca Playa Pesquero is one of the biggest and most famous resort hotels in Cuba. The hotel takes its name from the beautiful beach that is (quite literally) a stone’s throw away, and it is decorated in a simple and elegant style, with marble floors and palm thatch roofs. The resort has many outstanding features, including nine restaurants, several bars, and a range of sports and activities on offer. The centerpiece of the resort is the amazing curvaceous pool, with its “swim up” bar that allows you to swig a rum cocktail without leaving the water. A true luxury highlight. Paradisus Rio De Oro, Guardalavaca Ringed by tropical forests and outstanding beaches, Rio De Oro is believed by many to be the best out of all of Cuba’s hotels. It is also only for adults, so you don’t have to worry about being pestered by children during your holiday in Cuba! The hotel is superbly decorated and designed, has all the facilities you would expect from a five star hotel, and even features its own luxury spa for complete relaxation. Melia Las Americas, Varadero If you are looking to combine a few rounds of golf with your beach holiday in Cuba, Melia Las Americas is the perfect choice of hotel. Cuba’s best golf course at Varadero is only a few minutes walk away (with discounts are offered to all hotel guests) and this classy, five star hotel overlooks the ocean, so you can alternate between lounging on the beach and playing golf at your leisure!

Royal Hideaway, Cayo Ensenachos

The name says it all – combining royal quality with peaceful seclusion, this is one of the best resorts for a relaxing holiday in Cuba. The hotel is set next to pair of unspoilt white sand beaches, Ensenacho and Megano, and the despite the size of the resort (with over five hundred rooms) the careful landscaping and spacious design allow it to maintain its secluded feel. Perfect for those who are after an isolated Caribbean retreat.

Melia Cayo Coco, Cayo Coco

The Melia Cayo Coco is loved by couples for its unique romantic atmosphere. The best rooms are those that look across the lagoon at the heart of the resort, and some of the rooms and bars are built directly over the sea itself. This Cuba hotel is especially recommended for honeymoon trips – it is a superb romantic getaway.

A holiday in Cuba presents a beguiling mixture of colonial cities, Caribbean coastline, unique cultural mix and a vibrant island atmosphere. While the beach resorts on the island (such as Varadero and Guardalavaca) are hugely popular, those who want to get a real taste of Cuban culture would be well advised to spend time in the cities. From the colonial splendour of Trinidad to the old fashioned vibrancy of Havana, the large towns and cities of Cuba are one of the country’s best holiday highlights.

<!--

When it comes to choosing your accommodation, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Converted colonial buildings, boutique hotels and grand resorts are amongst the options for a hotel in Cuba. But if money is no object, then there are a few hotels that really stand out from the crowd…

Havana – Saratoga

Havana is, perhaps unsurprisingly, home to the very best hotels in Cuba. There are plenty to choose from, but the Saratoga is perhaps the pick of the bunch. The hotel of choice for artists and writers since the 1930′s, the Saratoga is a stunning colonial hotel in the heart of Havana. Recently refurbished in a neo-classical style, amongst the many highlights of this Cuban hotel are the chic mezzanine bar and a rooftop pool with views out across the port and old town.

Santiago de Cuba – Melia Santiago

There are plenty of hotels in Cuba’s second city, but none better than the Melia Santiago. Combining a central city location with resort style facilities, the Melia offers the best of both worlds. Its “unique” architecture isn’t to everyone’s taste, but the comprehensive facilities, excellent rooms and superb location make it a firm favourite for visitors to Santiago.

Cienfuegos – Jagua

Cienfuegos, known as the “Pearl of the South” is justly named. The towering fort palace, erected to discourage pirates in the 18th, is the must-see sight here, the distinctive French architecture and the splendid bay give it a very different feel to the other cities in Cuba. The best hotel is hard to choose, with La Union (a beautiful colonial hotel at the heart of the city) being a very strong contender, but the Jagua, with its simply stunning views and excellent rooms, is the place to stay in Cienfuegos.

Trinidad – Iberostar Grand Hotel Trinidad

Trinidad is a UNESCO World Heritage site, a spectacularly preserved colonial town that is without a doubt the most beautiful in Cuba. The hotels in Trinidad, naturally, are renowned for their elegant design and traditional architecture, and the best hotel in town is undoubtedly the Iberostar Grand Hotel. This boutique hotel is immaculately designed and laid out, and is the perfect base from which to explore the many sights of Trinidad.

Camaguey – Gran Hotel

The winding streets of Camaguey were designed as a maze to trap pirates and raiders, and getting lost in the streets of this city is one of real pleasures of a holiday here. Located at the very heart of this maze of a city is the Gran Hotel, a delightful colonial-style hotel that is the best in the city and is located close to all the major sights and attractions.
