The Czech Republic is a country located in Central Europe. It is bordered by Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia. This country is further divided into three regions; namely, Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. The Czech Republic has lots to offer its visitors, and here are the ten beautiful places that are a must-see in this country.

1.) The Prague Castle
This is recognized by the Guinness World of Records as the largest and oldest castle in the whole wide world. This is a very impressive castle that seems to be guarding the city below. You can also see here the St. Vitus Cathedral as well as other smaller palaces.

2.) Charles Bridge
This is only one of the many bridges in Vltava. It was constructed during the 14th century and is considered as one of the most stunning bridges in Prague. During the day, it is nice to stroll along the Charles Bridge and get to enjoy the many stores and restaurants and bars that are located here.

3.) The Old Town
If you want to see what an ancient town looks like, then visit The Old Town. This is also considered as Prague’s historical center as it houses a lot of historical buildings as well as monuments, the most popular of which is the Astronomical Clock or the Orloj. There are also a lot of historical churches that you can visit here.

3.) Josefov
This historical Jewish ghetto is a must-visit place. Here, you will get to see old synagogues that are well maintained, and you will also see here the Jewish Cemetery, thought of as the oldest cemetery in Europe. There is also a burial site that you can visit which is said to be Prague Golem’s.

4.) New Town of Prague
Its main tourist spot is the Wenceslas Square where you will get to enjoy shops and restaurants as well as little stalls. You can also visit the National Museum. Along the Boulevard, you will also see parks as well as arcades and modern discos as well as new buildings.
5.) The Lesser Town
What this offers is picturesque views of streets and old churches. The most popular church is the St. Nicholas Church. You can also see the famous Lennon Wall here.

6.) City Center of Brno
If you want to see more historical buildings, then go on to the City Center of Brno. Here, you will surely enjoy the sights of its old churches as well as theaters. You are also going to see here numerous sculptures as well as fountains as you walk along its streets.

7.) Spilberk Castle
This castle/fortress is located in Brno and used to be a famous notorious prison where a lot of people were tormented and tortured during the Austro-Hungarian Empire era. Now, it houses a museum as well as a restaurant to dine in. There is also a park that offers wonderful sights which you can visit.

8.) Vankovka Gallery
If you are fond of shopping, then go on to the Vankovka Gallery. This used to be an industrial center but was later converted to a big shopping center. You can still see some historical industrial buildings here and, at the same time, shop till you drop.

9.) Cesky Krumlov State Castle and Chateau
This is one of the famous tourist destinations in Krumlov. Here, you will see the castle complex and even explore it for free. If you want to see its interiors, then there is the paid guided tour for you to choose.

10.) Namesti Svobody
This is also called the Freedom Square. This is the place where most cultural events are held. So if you want to see a cultural event, then head on to Namesti Svobody.

When you visit Prague, you can expect to see some unusual things, but you have not seen anything until you see the dancing house. To look at this place from the outside, you would be afraid to enter the building. It looks as if it is ready to fall down. It is amazing to see how someone’s mind worked in such a way to make this building look like it is really dancing. The famous La Perle de Prague restaurant is located inside the dancing house on the top floor. The French cuisine is exquisite and the view of the city is beautiful.

Next, take a walk down Golden Lane where you will see eleven houses that act as museum types. There are little shops in some, textiles and armoury as well as other attractions. The street is from ancient times and the houses are historic. The street itself is something to see, but once you enter the homes, you will be amazed at how they use these houses to display more history of the city. You could take a half a day or more to see everything in the houses, sit, and watch the people coming and going. It is unique and interesting to see this area.

The Prague Zoo is a day trip all by itself. There are over five thousand animals with over six hundred species. The zoo is a favorite place for visitors when they stay in the city. The scenery around the zoo is just beautiful with rolling hills and a river valley. You must see Wenceslas Square. This is where you will spend some time especially if you want to experience some nightlife. The main street of Prague is filled with hotels, casinos, banks, bars and shops. If you can stay close to this area, you will be within walking distance of most of the Prague attractions.

You might not think this is an unusual place to see, but when you consider all the attractions in this little area with so many other buildings so close, it is very unusual. It is not unusual to see people everywhere twenty-four hours a day. The square is always filled with people. If you do manage to spend some time on the square, you should stop at Buffalo Bill’s Restaurant or HOT Restaurant. These two eateries are fantastic. You will want to make these two places your destination every day for lunch and dinner.

Some bars are more geared towards customers from around the world. There is Aloha Wave Lounge and Jama Pub. Then there are International bars, Irish bars, wine bars, sports bars, English pubs and music bars. They have French bars, cocktail bars and karaoke bars as well as Czech and Cuban bars. There is a bar for everyone in Prague. The area is filled with bars. Enjoying the nightlife is as easy as walking out of the hotel and you are sure to see one or two right near you.

Prague is a well- known old city of Europe that is a host to many tourists all round the year. The aura of the place speaks for itself. Prague is the capital of Czech Republic whose traditional and archaic European ambiance is too appealing than ever imagined. Czech is deemed to be the heart of Europe and ahs a population of more than ten million people out of which 1.3 million are nestled peacefully in the city of Prague.

The Sites Worth Gazing

The Charles Bridge at Prague is a host to many visitors all round the year. This bridge was completed and made public in 1400. It displays grotesque architecture and river views that keep the visitors engaged especially during the summer season. There is also the eminent Wenceslas Square hat is deemed to be the heart of Prague and that grounds some of the most wonderful restaurants, shops and pubs in Prague. The Old Town center is also a place worth visiting in Prague. The center has on parade some of the marvelous historical sites like the Old town Hall and the Astronomical clock where the visitors get to see the land from the 60 meter elevated tower.

Getting around in Prague is quite simple and convenient. Besides the natural beauty that the place is blessed with, the human technology does not score less. There are trams, metros and buses to explore the charismatic place.

Prague is the land of wonderful museums. There is the National Technical Museum, which puts to display old cars, bikes, planes, trains, cameras, watches and so forth. The best part is the museum itself that is a historical building of 1930’s. The Mozart Museum is worth appreciating. The music lovers can have a gala time here for the place offers historical music scores, letters and musical instruments that are exclusive and great to enjoy. Specifically for the artists is meant the Museum of Decorative Arts that presents Czech porcelain, crystal and wood -carvings. Not to overlook is the Wax Museum that has proved its worth across the globe. Apart from these there are many good museums and art galleries that are evenly spread across the city.

Pargue also has some of the magnificent castles like the Karlstejn Castle that was redesigned in 19th century and which is one of the most photogenic castles known so far. Close to the castle place, are sold exotic Bohemia crystals that the tourists often love to take back home. The Konopiste Castle is known for its French style architecture from 13th century. It is located about 44 kilometers southeast of Prague and is thrown open for visitors from May to August.
Built in 870, the Prague Castle has been expanding into the biggest ancient castle in the world. The castle encloses two churches and four palaces along with other structures. It was expanded and renewed several times during its life.

Being the biggest and most important temple, St. Vitus Cathedral, one of the churches in the castle, was the place for coronations of kings and queens of Czech. The church was established by Prince Vaclav inside the castle after he managed to obtain remains of the Saxon nation’s patron saint Vitus from King Henry. In the 11th century and after the big fire it underwent a main renovation.

The second church in the castle, St. George’s Basilica, was also founded around the same time as St. Vitus Cathedral in 920 by Prince Vratislav I. Later in 13th century the St. Ludmila chapel was added to the Basilica. In late 18th century the church was occupied by troops which had a devastating effect on its structure but afterwards it was renewed with preserving its Romanesque design in mind.

Located at the north east of the castle, The Royal Summer Palace was a present given by Ferdinand I to his wife. The Royal Summer Palace which is also called Queen Anne’s Summer Palace was founded in the 15th century and is one of the biggest Renaissance buildings in Europe. It was built in just one year by Giovanni Maria Aostalli and Giovanni Lucchese, the Italian builders.

Having a breathtaking view of the city, the Old Royal Palace is considered the most appealing site within the castle. It was originally made of wood which was later converted to a stone building in 12th century by Prince Sobeslav. Ironically, considered a perfect place for execution, many politician were thrown out the windows of the palace.

Believed to have a healing power, the Lobkowicz Palace, was built before the 16th century by reconstructing two large Gothic houses located on Jirska street. It was where the survivals of the dropping from the neighbouring building, the Old Royal Palace, took refuge. Nowadays, the remains of Lobkowicz family, The Princely Collections, are exhibited there and it is also a venue for concerts.

There are six gardens within the castle with the Royal Garden being the biggest and most attractive of them. The Royal Garden is especially famous for it exceptional botanical and the exotic plants. It was only after the collapse of the communist empire that this garden opened to the public. Other gardens in the castle are the Paradise Garden, Garden on the Rampars, Garden on the Terrace of the Riding School, Hartig Garden and Garden on the Bastion, all well worth a visit.

There are two towers within the walls of the castle. One of them, Daliborka, was originally built not only as a defence tower but a dungeon. It has taken its name from its first prisoner The Knight Dalibor of Kozojedy. This tower was founded by Benedikt Ried in 1496 and was used as a prison until 1781. Another tower, the Powder tower, was also built by Benedikt Reid to serve for defence.

Closely followed by Prague Zoo and the National Museum, the Prague Castle is at the top of the list of tourists in Czech. A visit to Czech will not be completed without taking a tour in the Prague Castle.

The beautiful city of Prague is situated along the Vltava River in central Bohemia. Prague is the largest city and also the capital of the Czech Republic. The foundation of Prague dates back to the Paleolithic Age. The city was founded by Princess Libu’e and Premysl, her husband and founder of the Premysl Dynasty. This city became the seat of Kings of Bohemia and an important place for trading. Prague has a number of nicknames, such as City of a Hundred Spires, The Golden City, The Left Bank of the Nineties, The Mother of Cities, and The Heart of Europe.

Prague is connected to many important world cities by several direct flights that are not too costly. Ruzyn is its international airport and is located in the west of Prague. Prague is also connected by rail and has two international train stations. Eurocity trains connect Prague to Berlin, Vienna, and Budapest. Tourists can also use the bus to reach Prague which has highway connections from all directions. Accommodations are available to suit most budgets.

Prague has turned into a popular tourist destination after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Since Prague was one of the few European cities comparatively untouched during the World Wars, most of its historic architecture has been preserved. Tourists flock to visit its ancient buildings and murals. A varied collection of architectural forms from Art Nouveau to Baroque, Renaissance, Cubist, Gothic, Neo-Classical, and ultra-modern can be seen.

Tourists can visit all the places of interest by taking walking tours, bus tours, or boat tours. A number of companies offer interesting walking tours of Prague. Some walking tours may have themes such as ghosts, Kafka, and legends. A two hour boat tour on the Vltava River takes tourists past the Prague Castle District and Lesser Town. The Prague by Night tour is three hours long and tourists can enjoy onboard dining and cruising. It is followed by a one-hour coach trip to Prague’s most beautiful squares. Nightlife in Prague is quite active and entertaining.

Spring is the best time to visit Prague when temperatures are 8-14°C/46-57°F. April and beginning of May are also conducive when the temperatures reach 15-25°C/59-77°F.

Since 1992, historic centers of Prague have been included in the UNESCO list of heritage structures.
