AVG provides a free version of their anti-virus software. Not only is it free, it doesn’t gum up your computer resources like some other virus packages do.

Audacity is a free open source software for recording and editing sounds for Mac, PC and Linux.

Pamela is a third-party add on software for Skype. It adds a number of features, but the one we use it for is recording interviews. Pamela allows you to record any Skype call as an MP3 or WAV file. It’s only for PC. There is a free version, but for longer calls you need the professional version.

Aweber is an email list manager. They have a reputation for getting the highest percentage of delivery for your e-mail newsletter. This is one of the first things you should invest in right after web hosting. You want to start building your e-mail list from “day one.”

FileZilla is a file transfer protocol. It has basic set of features, but works well for free. It works on PC or Mac. This is a great program to start with for transferring files to your web site.
