What is there not to love about San Diego? Seriously! Almost 365 days of perfect sunshiny weather, incredible stretches of sand, yummy local eateries and so many out door, fun in the sun activities!
We’ve been hitting San Diego pretty often lately, partly for business but mostly because we’re stalking a beach town to move to in a few years. Here’s a list of our favorite places to stay. Next week we’ll be posting our favorite places to eat and play in the San Diego area.
Best Beach Front: Tower 23
We have always loved Tower 23, especially their beach front surf pad! The sunset is magical from their bar/patio and there’s always a cool crowd gathered. You’re within walking distance to all of the beach front shops, restaurants and activities.

Best Boutique Hotel: Hotel Solamar
This funky and flirty hotel is perfectly situation in the hub of San Diego fun, just a block from the new baseball stadium, in the heart of the Gaslamp District. What we love most about this property is the upscale party vibe, with top notch service. Also, the on site restaurant Jsix, serving delish coastal California cuisine, and the J6Bar has an equally stunning view of the skyline and the bay from the rooftop pool terrace.

Best Luxury Resort: L’Auberge Del Mar
Just 30 minutes north of San Diego is the cool, family friendly beach town of Del Mar. Our favorite place to escape the fun of city! With beautiful sunset views, fire pits, an incredible on site restaurant Kitchen 1540 and a fabulously luxurious spa, you don’t have to leave. But if you want to venture out, you’re just a block to the beach, walking distance to incredible sunset eateries like Jake’s and just a hop-skip-and-jump to the Del Mar Race Track.

Best Luxury Escape: The Lodge at Torrey Pines
Just north of La Jolla, but just south of Del Mar you’ll find a beautiful lodge that sits on a bluff overlooking a rocky coastline. This resort is perfect for those weekends when you just want to escape with your significant other. Definitely a unique property that combines the earthiness of a lodge with the finishes high-end home. Golf is a favorite pass time as the property boasts a Rees Jones designed golf course.
