Why Go?

  • Boston is one of the countries oldest cities and boasts the country’s First public park, and neighboring Cape Cod is home to one of the country’s oldest gay bars. So progressive!
  • Did someone say “Chowda”?
  • Bostonians (and most New Englanders) are crazy about their sports teams! Try to catch a game at the historic Fenway Park!
  • Food, food and more food….with so many cultures “fresh off the boat”, Boston is home to some of the Nations best restaurants!

When to Go:

Spring & Fall: Boston is a walkable city that is filled with sidewalk cafés, outdoor concerts, park events, sporting events, neighborhood parties and historic places to see. So spring and fall are definitely the best times to visit.

Winter: Boston, as it’s on the bay, has very cold winters, with an average high temperature of 39°F. If Boston is a stop-over for skiing in Northern New England, then pack warm and plan more indoor activities.

Summer: Boston summers are usually sticky, hot, often humid although the high is around 80°F.  If your heart is set on summer, opt for June or early July, weather is more mild. This is also a great time to hit the beach area of Cape Cod and the islands like Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

How Do I Get There?   Getting to Boston by plane or train is easiest. Getting to and from Logan, or anywhere in Boston is easily searched on the GetUThere App from Massport!

Airport: Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) A taxi is the easiest way to leave the airport and can be caught outside baggage claim. Expect the trip downtown to cost about $20–$45, depending on your destination.

Bonus Travel Tips:

  • If you have an super-duper early flight, the Hilton Hotel at Logan makes a terrific crash-pad as it connects by foot bridge to the airport – no taxi needed!
  • Getting around Boston is easy with The MBTA, known affectionately as “the T,”. The train runs throughout the city and north to Cambridge and other suburbs on five main lines between 6 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. It’s easy to use and better than traffic! Unlimited passes are available for $9 for one day or $15 for seven days. See for complete T information.
