To start…this picture was taken from our room. Seriously. With an iPhone.
The Location: The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, California
Address: One Ritz-Carlton Drive, Dana Point, California 92629
The location just simply doesn’t get better. This gorgeous hotel is perched on a bluff overlooking the Southern California coast. It actually kinda reminds me of Hawaii.
From your ground level ocean front room, which comes with a fire pit by the way, you can walk out and sit in one of these Adirondack chairs and watch the surfers fight for the waves below. What is a better way to watch the sun take it’s daily dip into the ocean than by roasting marshmallows for S’mores and sipping a beautiful wine on your private patio.
Truth be told, the rooms could use a little update, the floor to ceiling marble in the bathroom was somewhat dizzying, but honestly, who the heck cares with a view like that!
Cost: $849/night for Fireside Ocean View Guest Room
(other room categories start around $449)
The panoramic views from this yummy eatery are stunning. For us, this was the best place to grab a bite for lunch and watch the gorgeous waves rolling in.
Think ceviche, oysters and sushi – you go for the view, but enjoy primarily appetizers and cocktails.
5 Star Dinner: enoSTEAK
Like most of California, enoSTEAK boasts a farm to table, organic menu with local items. Our favorite thing to start with is the cheese and charcuterie plate. Then we’d suggest moving on to the grass fed beef (this is a steak house!) or their selection of fresh from the sea fish. Of course, local California wines are the suggestion of the house.
